Excel version of report is not automatically recognised by Windows XP as an Excel file

Created: 02-Mar-2008 11:17   Updated: 05-Feb-2010 02:52
Component/s: Reporting
Affects Version/s: 1.2 Basic hierarchy
Fix Version/s: 1.3 Hierarchy

 Description  « Hide
When I download and open the Excel version of the report, it is not automatically recognised by windows XP as an Excel file - instead, the dialogue appears asking me which programme I would like to use to open the file.

This is a small thing, but the sort of thing that confuses our users unnecessarily and is extra work.

If you can change it so that it's automatically recognised, it would be a big improvement.

Should have the recognizable file extension now.

We have Evaluation 1.2.1 with Hierarchy 1.2.4 installen on a Sakai 2.5.3.

Clicking in the Export Excel link shows binary code in a new browser window. This happens with Firefox 3 and IE7.

A right-click and selecting "Save link as" works nice.

Please, could you attach your fix to this ticket? If it is an easy fix, maybe I could try to apply it myself.
