 Description  « Hide
At present, although Sakai administrators can add more than one Chat tool to the tools menu of a site, general users cannot. Our Faculty like to have the different chat rooms accessed via the tools menu, and would like to be able to add these chat rooms in the tools menu themselves. They would like to be able to add more than one chat tool to the tools menu in the same way that you can add more than one News tool or Web Content tool.

I think this is a Site Info/Worksite Setup thing - I'd like to assign to Zhen for 2.6 unless Lance is intending on adding it.

This would be like adding a Web Content tool - If a chat room is selected, the next page includes a field for the chat room name and page title with the "more chat rooms" dropdown as is present for News and Web Content tools. . If the chat tool has been selected, next time there is a new chat tool entry in the list under the one that was checked last time.

Love it! Yes please!

Will (Should?) the multiple chat tools in the site see the same collection of Chat Rooms, or does each have its own collection of rooms? If they share, will all the tools point to the same default "main chat room", until their defaults are set to different rooms? If they don't share, will their default rooms all be named "main chat room", even though they are different main chat rooms?

Well, I imagined it as the multiple chat tools seeing the same collection of Chat Rooms. And yes, all the tools would point to the same default 'main chat room' till you change the defualt. Perhaps when you add a second chat tool, part of the adding process would be to choose the default chat room, just as you do with the News Tool?
