 Description  « Hide
When exporting a gradebook, the course grade in the CSV is different than the course grade shown in the site. Two examples (screenshot, csv) are attached.

Example 1:
Course grades in CSV appear to be an average of some sort but does not match what is shown on the course site.

Example 2:
Course grades in CSV appear to be =sum(all course grades) / 2.

Changing component to JIRA, bumping up priority - if this is a problem with grades it should be looked at asap.

Assigning to Michelle Wagner for analysis

Refreshed screenshots and data to have as little student information as is possible but still be able to have row identifiers.

Michelle Wagner added a comment - 17-Sep-2009 05:31
Hi Carl,
It looks they are using weighted gradebooks. Could you let me know which assignments are in which category and what the weight of the category is? Could you also check to see if there are any Course Grade Overrides on the Course Grades page for these students?

Thanks!

I found a jira that looks related but was only worked on in a branch. SAK-15144

No need to dig up that info, Carl. I was able to reproduce with trunk gradebook locally. It looks like the "Course Grade" in the export is actually just the sum of all of the points earned, not the calculated course grade.

Confirmed that the Course Grade column in trunk is a simple sum of points.

Sam, it seems your comment is telling us the problem is not fixed.

Sorry, you are correct. I tested again. I received identical results when viewing in Sakai (All Grades) and when viewing the exported spreadsheet.

1) I setup Categories and Weighting
2) First Cat: 25%, Second Cat: 75%
3) Assigned grades to 3 students
4) Viewed in All Grades, categories were weighted correctly.
5) Export Gradebook
6) Course Grade column was identical to All Grades calculation

Has anyone been able to verify this fix in a 2.5.x instance?

Carl Hall added a comment - 10-Dec-2009 09:11
GT has included the patch and pushed it to production with success. We're on 2.5.
