Large Sites need to be able to use a single search server rather than have the index on all nodes.

Hence a feature to disable the search index on some nodes and make them use a central node via REST based web services.

This is now fixed, in trunk

You can create a single search server and have other servers connect to it via web services. There are still some issues with administrative interfaces.
