 Description  « Hide
For sites that have been in use a while and contain a number of files, the time to render the top level view is quite noticeable. Here at IU we're starting to receive a number of complaints as to the performance.

Here are some benchmarks for a couple sites on our local system. We'll be willing to use this same data to test any patches you may be able to create.

Jim - we are growing very concerned about this issue as we get closer to start of fall semester. Any updates for us? Thanks, L

Do you have any information about how 2.4.x (as of today) or trunk compares in performance to 2.3 for similar collections sizes with similar loads on the server?

Lance Speelmon - 25-Jul-2007 07:17
Jim - from our testing of 2.3.x versus 2.4.x we are seeing 2.4.x being 2x slower than 2.3.x. We are running two identical environments against the same Oracle data so this is a pretty good comparison. 2.3.x takes 5 seconds and 2.4.x takes 10 seconds.

Lance Speelmon - 25-Jul-2007 07:19
Testing against a different site that has more resources, 2.3.x takes 5 seconds, 2.4.x takes fifteen seconds. The performance degradation does not appear to be linear.

It looks like SAK-10171 is the root of most of the performance problem. We used the YourKit.com profiler to determine where the slowness was coming from... L

There were also some localization issues at play that exaggerated the problems. Closing out as a non-issue

Would like to get the one revision under this ticket merged to 2.4.x.

Jim Eng - 01-Aug-2007 20:54
