Several of the citations in the Refworks_RIS.txt file included foreign names with unusual characters. These imported differently for copy and paste vs. uploading the file. I don't think they imported properly in either case, although I'm not certain of that.

A screenshot if possible: See nscholtz_debug_diacritics.doc for examples.

The first screenshot (file upload) seems to accurately represent what is stored inside the Refworks_RIS.txt. So, it seems to me that the file upload one worked correctly. Can you confirm this?

The paste into the textbox issue (vs file upload) confirmed did NOT bring the i18n characters over correctly. I need to do some research (my inexperience with i18n) to see if there is anything special as far as encoding the form submittal to rectify this.

I copy/pasted the RIS record in i18nRIS.txt into the import page's textarea and imported. The little a with the "hat" over it (special character) in the author's name came in just fine and displays after imported as a little a with a "hat" over it. Uploading i18nRIS.txt also came in just fine.

I cannot duplicate the problem although your second screenshot clearly showed there was an import problem.
