      Description

Export a gradebook (once with and once without the structure included) then import it back (either unchanged or with new grades or with new item and grades). The import always displays the popup (see attached screenshot) indicating there is a duplicate item (which there isn't).

Export a gradebook (with or without the structure included) duplicate an item column (so that there actually is a duplicate item). The import displays the duplicate item message, but there is no sign of the actual duplicate item in the import displays, and it is not imported.

QA Test Note that this is a No Categories/ Letter gradebook.

Tested as indicated in the description. There is now no name collision message unless it is a Template import and there is a real name collision. QA Pass

Unstructured or Structured imports treat the duplicate items as one item (no name collision message) combining the two lists of scores, using the first (leftmost) item's score only when there is no value in the second (rightmost) item's score. For the dup item, all existing scores in the GB are replaced.
          QA Fail

For a Template import, the name collision message appears and indicates that, while the import wizard renamed the item to be imported, you can change the item name back to the original to allow overlay. But changing the name back to the existing GB item's name results in another name collision error message in the next step. See attached screenshots of the messages.
          QA Fail

          Mostly QA Fail
The presence of a dup item should be announced in all import types. Template import should allow overlay of existing item if that is chosen by renaming in the import grid.

needs more work on what to do when there is an actual duplicate item found.

@David re: 3rd comment on 30-Apr-2012 12:09 " ...you can change the item name back to the original to allow overlay." The force overwrite function you describe was vetoed. Users cannot overwrite existing items with templates, scantrons or clickers.

the use of terms such as 'dup item' are too loosely applied to be sure about the uses cases. Assuming that it refers to duplicates *in the file* but not name collisions, then again see GRBK-414 for the resolution to that.
