Passwords for Infrequent Portfolio Viewers

    Details

      Description

Portfolio-sharing invitations may be sent to people or offices (such as
HR@MegaFirm.com) who last received such an invitation months ago,
perhaps from an different applicant long forgotten, and who probably did
not retain the password and has no mechanism to retrieve it. As Janice
Smith says, "This issue will especially apply to employers that are not
disposed to keep track of such details," and it is those very viewers
(such as HR@MegaFirm.com) that matter to students on display
      portfolios.

Possible solutions include: Generate and send a new password for each
viewing, initiated by the viewer, or for each new sharing, initiated by
the portfolio owner; do nothing and inform the institutions that some
adaptation on its part is necessary; modify the account tool to allow
retrieval of unknown passwords. Note that division of the invitation
into two messages, one with the authentication, and one with the
portfolio link, is a related but independent issue. Thanks to Jan for
      her help with this JIRA.
