      Description

Grayed-out text indicates a hidden item, e.g., hidden files/folders in Resources or hidden tools in the tool menu. However, this text is too low contrast with the white/light background, so colorblind users may not be able to read it (see screen shot at the bottom of this description).

The following fixes are proposed by the Accessibility Working Group:

      • Tool Menu - increase contrast on text - the italics, eyeball with a slash icon, and (Hidden from site members) are sufficient indicators of the tool being hidden.
      • Make hidden items in Resources behave the same as the tool menu - italicize file/folder name and display eyeball with a slash icon with (Hidden from site members) for a screen reader/tool tip.
      • For hidden items in Resources the Access column should include (Hidden) after the access level.

Below is a screen shot of the current bad behavior's results from the Chrome Color Contrast Analyzer developed by NC State. White areas in the image surrounding text indicate sufficient contrast. As demonstrated by their lack of highlighting in the image, text identifying the Site Info tool and the Hidden folder in Resources both have insufficient contrast with their backgrounds.
