      Description

We have a faculty request for greater control of the gradebook integration--i.e., the ability to choose when scores for an assessment are sent to gradebook. A similar request has been made previously, in the following unresolved tickets:

      https://jira.sakaiproject.org/browse/SAK-6288
      https://jira.sakaiproject.org/browse/SAK-2709

Currently, grades are sent immediately, regardless of feedback setting. So, a student sees an assessment score in gradebook, even if the assessment requires manual grading that has not yet been done by the instructor.

One approach might be to adopt the Assignments functionality (if possible). In that tool, if you opt to send an assignment's scores to gradebook, a gradebook item gets created immediately, but a score is not sent until the instructor releases it to the student. Perhaps the gradebook integration could honor an assessment's feedback settings. Or (as suggested in SAK-6288), a "release scores to gradebook" button could be added.
