      Description

      Symptom
      -----------------------------
Instructor grades assessment, two students have not submitted a response. Instructor wants the students to receive a zero for the assessment and for the zero to count as part of the total student grade. Instructor goes to Gradebook and sees a grade of "" assigned to the students (instead of a zero). The "" grade does not count as a zero in the students' total grade.

      Re-thinking the Zero
      -----------------------------
How about making the Adjustment column blank by default? If an instructor provides a "0" in the "Adj" column, this should then be interpreted as a true zero.

Alternatively, is there a good reason not to submit non-submissions as true zeros after the due date (or retract date) has been reached?

      Workaround for frustrated professors
      -----------------------------
Adjust the student's score to "0.01" and then adjust back to "0". The final "0" will appear in the gradebook.
