      Description

Note: UVA has a patch for this issue.

      Original Issue

In samigo, when you select Settings > Layout and Appearance > Navigation: Linear access to questions with NO return to previous pages, the following other layout options should automatically set and disable so they cannot be changed:

      1. Question Layout should be set to Each Question is on a separate Web page
      2. Add checkboxes next to questions so they can be marked for review should be UNCHECKED

The Navigation setting MUST be Random access to allow multiple questions per page or go back to review any marked questions. The reason is that for Linear access, students aren't supposed to see any question more than once.

Screencast showing CORRECT behavior on Sakai 10.2 - same correct behavior is on Publishing Working Copy and Editing Published Copy):
      https://www.screencast.com/t/eZGHAZg7vl

However, Issue: in Sakai 11.2, instead, the Question Layout option is NOT automatically setting OR becoming disabled when Linear access is set. Instead, if you choose a different Question Layout (e.g. one part per page or all questions on one page) and Publish, the Question Layout setting will change SILENTLY to Each Question is on a separate Web page

THEN, if you MODIFY the settings for the test in Published Copies, you can actually Save an assessment so it looks like it will have an INCORRECT Mark for Review setting (i.e. display Mark for Review checkboxes on a test that has linear access) however, the Question Layout setting always changes SILENTLY on save. Note that (Correctly) students will NOT actually see the Mark for Review boxes if this incorrect setting is saved).

      Testing Steps
      1. Create a quiz and select Settings.
      2. Select Layout and Appearance.
      3. For Mark for Review, select Add checkboxes next to questions so they can be marked for review.
      4. For Question Layout, select anything OTHER than default one question per page (e.g. choose Each Part is on a separate Web page).
      5. For Navigation, choose Linear access to questions with NO return to previous pages.
      6. Observe:
        • If Issue Fixed:
          • Question Layout should be automatically changed to Each Question is on a separate Web page and disabled
          • Add checkboxes next to questions so they can be marked for review should be automatically UNCHECKED and disabled
        • If Issue Present:
          • Question Layout does NOT change OR disable and you can continue to choose any option for it. Confirm you can change it as desired, then leave the setting as either type that displays multiple questions per page.
      7. Save Settings and Publish.
      8. Go to Published Copies (Sakai 11.2 should place you there by default on publish) and select Settings from the drop-down to the left of the test.
      9. Select Layout and Appearance.
      10. Note that the Question Layout setting is now correct: Each Question is on a separate Web page, but it is STILL not disabled. Change the setting back to something else (because maybe you forgot to select the desired setting before publishing?)
      11. If Issue Present: Note that Mark for Review is now able to be edited. Select Add checkboxes next to questions so they can be marked for review.
      12. Save.
      13. Select Settings from the drop-down again, then Layout and Appearance.
      14. Observe:
        • Question Layout setting is again correct (i.e. If Issue Present: Question Layout has again been SILENTLY corrected, but still looks like you can change it): Each Question is on a separate Web page.
        • If Issue Present: Mark for Review is still INCORRECTLY enabled.
