      1. Prepare a course site that contains Gradebook and at least 1 student.
      2. Navigate to Gradebook as an Instructor
      3. Click to Add Gradebook Item.
      4. Enter “Item 1” for Title and “10” for “Point value”.
      5. Keep the other defaults and click “Create”.
      6. Open the menu for a student’s cell and select “Add/Edit Comment”.
      7. Enter “oops” in the text area and click “Save Comment”.
      8. For the same student cell above, now marked with a comments icon (dialog bubble), open that same menu and select “Add/Edit Comment”.
      9. Delete “oops” – (it doesn’t matter if no characters or only whitespace characters remain) – and click “Save Comment”.
      10. After the previous step, the bug manifests as a thrown exception displayed to the instructor. This e as depicted in the attachment, GradebookRemovingCommentExcpetion_screenshot.png. For this to be resolved, no exception should be thrown, and the instructor should see the cell empty with the comment icon removed from the cell in question.

      Description

Removing an inadvertent comment and saving it throws an exception visible to the instructor.

Refer to the test plan for repro steps, the attached screenshot, and the attached text file which contains the full exception stack trace. Note that the same bug manifests whether or not a point value is entered in the students cell where the comment is removed.
