    • Test Plan:
      Hide
      1. While using keyboard only, use the Tab key to access the Add Gradebook Item button.
      2. Still using keyboard only, create the gradebook item.
      3. Notice that your focus is placed in the first cell of the new item, and the tooltip: This is your new gradebook item appears above it.
      4. Hit Enter while in the cell and the tooltip should go away (because Enter is the equivalent of clicking in the cell).

      Description

While using a keyboard only, if I trigger the This is your new gradebook item tooltip when creating items, I can't close the tooltip. When I hit Enter in the box where it directs me to "Click here to start grading" (Enter being the keyboard equivalent of clicking in the box) and type a grade, the tooltip doesn't go away. I also tried using the Esc key, but because the tooltip never takes focus, I'm stuck with it there.

Here's a Screencast video demonstrating the issue. As shown in the video, the tooltip obscured the boxes where I was trying to enter grades. After entering a few grades, I also tried shift-tabbing backwards, but I still couldn't get keyboard focus on the tooltip.

I have not confirmed whether the tooltip is audible to screen reader users (doubtful), but if it is, the inability to close it with a keyboard would be a problem for them, too.

      Proposed Fixes:

      1. Make the tooltip include instructions for a keyboard user to enter a grade, e.g.:

To start grading, click here, or select this grade box and hit Enter on your keyboard.

      2. Make the tooltip go away when the user hits Enter on the grade cell (i.e., takes the same action as clicking.)
