      Description

If an instructor fills out a rubric with ratings and comments, and if one of the comments entered contains more than 248 characters, when the instructor clicks save, nothing is saved – all ratings and comments that they entered are wiped out. The instructor doesn't know that unless they reopen the rubric to look at it after saving. I replicated this with Rubrics in Gradebook and in Assignments (did not try in Forums or T&Q).

At a minimum, there should be a warning letting the instructor know to limit comments to 248 characters or less. Also it should prevent them from entering more than 248 characters.

      6. Open the rubric you just saved to view it, by clicking the down arrow and choosing Grade Rubric. Notice that there are no ratings selected, and no comments were saved. Only the total score was saved.

The same thing occurs when using a rubric to grade an assignment. When you enter a comment with more than 248 characters, and click "Save and Don't Release to Student" or "Save and Release to Student", when you look again at the rubric you see that no ratings or comments were saved, only the total score was saved.
