      Description

      Issue:

In Assignments with a Rubric attached: If an instructor uses a Rubric to grade a student submission, adds ratings and comments, then clicks on "Add Attachments" and either attaches a file and clicks "Continue" or clicks "Cancel", the rubric comments and ratings are wiped out (cleared out).

When the instructor clicks Save: All ratings and comments that were entered are gone. The instructor doesn't know the completed rubric was not saved unless they reopen the rubric to look at it after saving. Students don't see rubric ratings/comments in Assignments or the Gradebook. I replicated this with Rubrics in Assignments and in Tests & Quizzes. I'm opening another Jira for T&Q.

      Expected behavior:

After adding ratings and comments in an Assignments rubric, the ratings/comments should be saved and visible to both the instructor and student, in the Assignment and in the Gradebook.

A typical workflow for an instructor grading an assignment with a rubric would be:

      • View student submission (Assignment Submission)
      • Fill out the grading rubric (Grading Rubric: select ratings/add comments)
      • Maybe view student submission again
      • Add Instructor Summary Comments,
      • Add Attachment
      • Then either Click on Save and Don't Release to Student or Save and Release to Student (if you save before attaching a file, the rubric ratings/comments are saved)

      Replicated on https://trunk-mysql.nightly.sakaiproject.org (build 04a3747b)
      and on https://qa19-mysql.nightly.sakaiproject.org/ (build 5bc6adf5)

Steps to replicate: See Test Plan

Tests & Quizzes: Opened Jira for T&Q SAK-42371

The same thing occurs when using a rubric to grade a test question (tested with essay/short answer question). After adding rubric ratings/comments: When you click Add Attachments, attach a file and click Continue or click Cancel, then click Update, when you look again at the Grading Rubric tab you see that no ratings or comments were saved, only the total score was saved.
