In the Assignments tool, clicking the "Student View" tab will reveal "Submit as Student" links for posted assignments.
However, this language is confusing. Instructors who are new to Sakai, or even instructors who rarely deal with student issues when students submit assignments, can click this tab and interpret "Submit as Student" as "Submit on Behalf of Student." This, of course, is the wrong interpretation, since submitting on behalf of students can only be done by clicking the "Assignments by Student" tab.
Now, it's true that there is a blue notification that exists at the top of the "Student View" page, letting instructors know that clicking "Submit as Student" will allow them to work through the assignment exactly as a student would.
However, it can become easy for these blue notifications to become "invisible" to instructors after seeing so many of them in Sakai. That is, after seeing blue notifications for many other tools that instructors are intimately familiar with, it can become easy to filter them out (i.e. ignore them).
What I recommend here is to change the "Submit as Student" language in the link itself. I propose the text behind the link to read:
- "Preview as Student" OR
- "Preview How Students Submit"
I'm open to considering other suggestions as well.
