      Description

The mail.sendfromsakai.maxsize limit-- (see SAK-39116)-- does not limit mail sizes for mail with large attachments sent through the Email (Mailsender) tool. The setContent method of the kernel’s BasicEmailService class is where the maxsize is to be enforced. However, when this method is invoked by an email with attachments sent through Mailsender, the size of a MimeBodyPart object that represents an attachment is often if not always reported as “-1”. (I had to introduce logging statements in a local instance of Sakai to capture this.)

Consequently for Mailsender emails that greatly exceed the limit mail.sendfromsakai.maxsize (default 25 Mb), the mail is not sent despite the Mailsender’s message to the user that states otherwise-- (that email was sent).
