      Description

A student sent an email to an instructor where the subject appeared blank. Since there was no text in the subject line, the instructor could not open and read the message. I was able to reproduce this by having a space in the subject line. That appeared to count as "not blank" for the subject check, but can't be clicked on by the recipient.

      To reproduce:

      • Have a class site with the Messages tool present.
      • Click to compose a message.
      • Select yourself from the recipient list.
      • For the subject, hit the space bar as many times as you wish.
      • Enter a message.
      • Click Send. You don't get any warning / error about no subject.
      • Go to received messages. There is no way I have found to view that message.

Is it possible for the subject check to ignore spaces, or for trailing spaces to be removed, so this situation would trigger the "you must enter a subject" alert?
