      Description

It would be very helpful for using WebDAV to support "friendly" site IDs for DAV URLs, especially for Mac users that cannot rename what the DAV volume is mounted as.

      For example,

      http://sakai.institution.edu/dav/bc83345f-a2ad-4814-8074-e199a9615677/

      would become

      http://sakai.institution.edu/dav/english101a/

The Mac user would then have a nicely-named volume of "english101a" instead of the less meaningful "bc83345f-a2ad-4814-8074-e199a9615677".

I recall some patches to the access servlet that did something like this based off of the email archive alias.

            Discussed on CLE Team call.

Steve, do you want to commit this to trunk? Any idea on (lack of) performance impact?

Will do. We've been running it in prod for a number of years, no noticeable issue in this area and we use WebDAV a lot.

Can somebody please provide steps for making this work? I just tried it on trunk - Built: 10/20/13 20:00 - Sakai Revision: 130648 (Kernel 2.10-SNAPSHOT) ; on Mac OS X and I still get the "non-friendly" site id - http://nightly2.sakaiproject.org:8082/dav/b586a20c-1ac1-472b-b2a3-47659af8fdff

            Thanks
