      Description

Allow instructors to set up their gradebooks based on percent weighted assigments, rather than (or as an alternative to) the current point-weighted assignments method.

Real life example from management class syllabus:

Students will be graded according the follwing formula:
      Organization project report: 35%
      Issue project report 35%
      Student project presentation: 15%
      Student overall Class participation: 15%

      (end of example)

In the current GB the instructor would enter the numbers as points rather than percentages, but would then need to grade reports as a number between 0 and 35. In a percentage based system an instructor would grade all of the assignments from 0-100. The gradebook shoud then do the calculations based on the weights given.

This is the grading method that predominates at MIT.
