      Turnitin manages accounts using the email address as the unique identifier. Cases where more than one Sakai account have the same email address (for example an instructor and guest user) can cause problems with the roster sync logic.

      For example, if a site has an instructor and a guest account with the same email both in an instructor role, and the guest account is subsequently removed from the site, the Roster sync code will attempt to remove the guest account which Turnitin regards as the same as the instructor account.

      This can cause errors like

      {rmessage=Cannot remove user from class because the user is the only instructor for the class., rcode=450}

      To minimize the possibility that Sakai accounts will share the same email address (as far as Turnitin is concerned), guest accounts should be created on Turnitin with their eid as the email address, so that a guest account email address won't conflict with an institutional email address, even if the user changes it.

      This is added as a new default true preference:

      This code change also changes the preferSystemProfileEmail from a bean setting to a properties setting, default true (the bean setting was also true by default):

      This uses the email address from the system profile record (if populated) in preference to the account email. The assumption here is that institutions may populate the institutional email address in the system profile record, while allowing to change their user email addresses to something different. The email address exposed to Turnitin will always be the system profile email if this option is true.
